| Owned and operated by the Saunders
family of Boston for three generations, the Copley Square Hotel is a local
landmark in the heart of Boston's Back Bay at Copley Square. The city's
oldest, continuously operated hotel, the Copley Square is within walking
distance (or short T-ride) of all the city's major sites and attractions. Just
blocks away are Newbury Street, Copley Place and Prudential Center, as well as
the Hynes Convention Center, the Copley Connection complex and the businesses
of Back Bay. The Boston Public Garden, Boston Common, State House and Beacon
Hill are just ten minute walk away.
The Lenox was the latest thing when it opened in 1900, and
in its second century, it echoes that fin de si¨¨cle splendor everywhere, from
the ornate lobby to the spacious, luxurious rooms. Because of its central
location, the hotel is popular with business travelers, and its relatively
small size and accommodating staff make it a welcome alternative to the huge
convention hotels that dominate this neighborhood. The high-ceilinged guest
rooms are large enough to contain sitting areas; custom-designed wood
furnishings and marble bathrooms add to the anything-but-generic vibe. The
best accommodations are the 12 corner units with wood-burning fireplaces;
rooms on the top two floors of the 11-story hotel have excellent views.
Amenities Include: Well-regarded restaurant
(contemporary American); bar; pub; small exercise room; bike rental;
concierge; tour desk; car-rental desk; airport shuttle; business center; room
service until 11:30pm; babysitting; laundry service; same-day dry cleaning.
Rooms for travelers with disabilities and wheelchair lift to the lobby are
available.
The hotel features 143 guest rooms with a full range of
in-room amenities, including hair dryers, irons and ironing boards, personal
voice mail and modem hook ups, electronic key cards and electronic safes.
There are two full-service restaurants (The Original Sports
Saloon, and Speeder & Earl's) and one take out restaurant (Tennessee's) on
the premises. Complimentary afternoon tea is served in the hotel's lobby
daily. |
